Punka was (and still is) an Hardcore-punk-ska band formed in mid 1995 in Vercelli, Italy. First focused on covering tunes from their favorite bands, they soon developped a style of their own, and after a year of playing live they recorded their first cassette album, which was sold out in less than a couple of months. Their style become heavier 'till Macs and Ste left the band in July 1997 due to personal issues. Mr. Fere and Fax recruited Marco, former drummer for the local ska-punk band Flies On You and continued as a three-piece taking vocal duties for over a year, during while they recorded the second album "Everybody Radioactive". Soon after in July 1998 a new member on second guitar was added, and they continued to write new songs and perform live on a constant basis since July 1999. After that time the band went into a hyatus, but never officially split up. They reformed briefly for a show in 2004 as a three-piece with original drummer, in 2010 for a one-off show with Fritz Conti from Leccioles '69 on lead vocals and, with the first original line-up, in november 2011. Currently Mr. Fere and Marco plays in Brain Drain, a local Ramones tribute band and Mr. Fere and Fax (known there with the aliases Martin Scortese and Jerry Calato) plays in local demential cult heroes PG2000!.
